About Us

South Central Trucks UD is a subsidiary of the CMV Group, a privately owned SA based company that was established in 1934 with a staff of 5. It has developed into a 3rd generation family owned organisation, employing over 1000 employees within SA and VIC. The CMV Group has over 70 years experience in a variety of markets, including Australia’s automotive, truck and bus and agricultural industries.

South Central Trucks UD became the South Australian UD dealer in 2010. It was established in 1968 as one of Australia's first Volvo dealers, and in 2006 acquired the South Australian Mack Truck operations. South Central Trucks has a reputation for quality service and strong customer relations.

The UD Brand

In 1935 Nihon Diesel Industries was established in Japan, building diesel engines. It later moved into truck production and in 1955 the name UD was born. UD stands for "Uniflow Diesel" named after the engine they invented for their trucks. In 1960 the company was renamed Nissan Diesel Motor Co. Ltd., 1973 saw the first UD Truck imported into Australia. Nissan Diesel was purchased by the Volvo Group in 2007 and is now a subsidiary. UD Trucks have a legendary reputation for dependability, durability and reliability. They are sold in over 70 countries and operate in some of the harshest conditions ranging from snow and ice in Russia to the heat of the Middle Eastern deserts.

The Volvo Group

In the late 1990's Volvo sold their car operations to Ford and now only focus in industrial vehicles, engines and equipment. In 2008 Volvo Group sold over 200,000 trucks worldwide. Core brands include:
